While Kansas City's export total continues to increase ( exports totaled $5.7 billion in 2006, and we are on pace to exceed $8 billion in 2008) exports are still a relatively small portion of our local economy. 2007 exports were only 7 percent of the total Gross Regional Product for the Kansas City Metro. Among our peer metros, that percent is toward the bottom.
